River Parana Draft Forecast:

Tugboats Necochea and Bahia Blanca:

The Seamen’s Union have lifted the strike and operations are returning to normal for vessels belonging to ARTUG and SVITZER at Bahia Blanca and Necochea.

Grains and Markets:

Market sources advise that China has bought one full shipment of soya beans from Argentina (Panamax) basis September dates.
Morocco and Colombia are also interested in closing full (Handymax) shipments of soya bean meal for September.

GMO Wheat from Argentina:

The strain of genetically modified wheat (more drought resistant) developed in Argentina is gaining acceptance in the markets.
The Governments of Brazil, US and Australia are soon to accept this variety of wheat.
Most market analysts again stress that the “off the record” feeling is that markets are fearing for their food security and the initial concerns voiced regarding it being harmful have been put aside.

Off shore exploration in Tierra del Fuego:

Three oil companies have signed an agreement with the national and provincial governments to develop the “Fenix” gas field that is 60 km off shore from San Sebastian Bay in Tierra del Fuego. Part of the project that had been initially proposed for 2020 will consist of a port in San Sebastian where production and shipments of gas and urea will be performed. The companies involved are Total, PanAmerican South and Wintershall. The initial commencement of shipments is expected for 2024. Details are yet to emerge.

STS BUNKER AT ZONA COMUN FOR NEXT DAYS:

Strong wind gusts are expected at Zona Comun for tonight and they may interrupt STS deliveries.
As always, the STS operation is up to the discretion of the Master’s of the vessels involved.
