Corona Virus and Other Local News

In view of the ongoing developing situation and different communications and instructions being issued by Sanitary Authorities of the Argentine Government we have chosen to send a consolidated daily report at the closing of working hours with an update of the day’s news.

-The Sanitary Authority in Necochea revised and withdrew the requirement that all vessels arriving at that port undergo a 14 days quarantine. This put Necochea in line with all other ports in Argentina. All vessels coming from affected areas will be subjected to very close controls but will be allowed to enter and crew members afflicted by the virus will have to be quarantined within the vessel. All other crew members will have to maintain a safe distance from boarding staff and stevedores.
-Further to the above. Each port in Argentina is preparing it’s own set of directives in conjunction with local authorities to safeguard the spread of the virus.
-Due to the Uruguayan Government closing it’s border, Ferry Services to Montevideo and Colonia from Buenos Aires have been suspended until further notice. This could momentarily cause problems with availability of Argentine River Plate pilots at Recalada.
-According to the Government the local tally at the end of the day (Wednesday 18th March) is 97 infected cases nationwide and 3 deaths. Further restrictions on movement are expected to be announced this evening.

In view of the ongoing developing situation and different communications and instructions being issued by Sanitary Authorities of the Argentine Government we have chosen to send consolidated reports with an update of the day’s news.
