Grains and Markets:

Argentine farmers are still selling soya as fast as they can find buyers. The new exchange rate applied by the Government that “improves” farmer’s income remains in place until the end of September. There is speculation that, at this rate, there could be 7 million tons of soya sold within September. Deliveries to ports are ramping up. The Government’s aim is not kindness, they need the foreign exchange.
Jordan has bought 60,000 tons of barley for April 2023.
Saudi Arabia has tendered for 535,000 tons of wheat. Deliveries November through February 2023.

Dredging – River Uruguay:

Jan de Nul has been awarded the maintenance dredging contract for the River Uruguay. This is not part of the plan to turn the River Uruguay to 34 feet 00 inches (10.36 meters). It is only for maintenance. The main ports on the River Uruguay are Concepcion del Uruguay, Fray Bentos and Gualeguaychu. This contract is awarded and managed by CARU, the joint Argentine and Uruguay river administration entity.

Necochea Customs:

As the pandemic effects wear off… Necochea Customs House have advised they will be resuming spot checks on vessels in port. This will mainly be auditing vessel’s entry declaration and occasionally performing draft surveys on cargo to audit vis-à-vis shore scales.
