Tugboat and bunker barge strike lifted:

Today, Monday 26th, 08:00 hours the union has announced that they will abide by the Government’s enforced “truce”.
On this basis activities will be returning to normal during the day.

Nationwide tugboat and bunker barge strike:

Late Friday 23rd the Seamen’s union called an immediate open ended strike. This is a wage related claim.
The crews of harbor tugs and bunker barges have stopped working.
On Saturday 24th during the morning the Government declared an “enforced truce” but up until now the union has not complied.

Soyabeans in Argentina:

Soyabeans from Argentina are disrupting normal trade patterns.
The “special” exchange rate benefit that the Government has offered to encourage farmers has flooded the market with over 9,280,000 tons of the beans at the same moment that the Northern Hemisphere harvest arrives on the market. This Government “special” exchange rate will finish at the end of September. A far larger volume of beans will be shipped from Argentina in the coming weeks.

Grains and Markets:

Market sources have indicated that between 60 and 70 Panamax size shipments of soyabeans have been purchased by China out of Argentina. These vessels will loading Upriver and completing at Necochea and Bahia Blanca.
Rain showers are at last appearing over Argentina and the more pessimistic forecasters are revising, upwards, their expectations for the battered wheat due to be harvested and the sowing of soya, maize and sunflowerseed.
