Grains and Markets:

China is reported to have purchased two shipments of soya bean oil from Argentina. Dates unreported.

Also China, confirmed two Panamaxes of Brazil soya beans on April dates, it is also rumored that a further three have been purchased for same dates.

Argentina has purchased to Handymaxes for import of soya beans on prompt dates (Upriver discharge).

Colombia is in the market for a Supramax full of maize on June dates.

Drought comparative figures:

During the 1999/2000 harvest the total production was 20,100,000 tons with 8,800,000 hectares sown. This season, 2022/2023, 16,200,000 hectares were sown and the forecast total production is 25,000,000 tons.

Vaca Muerta LNG:

Tecpetrol, Techint’s upstream oil company, is also considering building an LNG plant to process gas they extract at Vaca Muerta. This will include a pipeline for transportation from source. Techint are principal contractors for these projects in Argentina.

If this materializes, then it will be the third LNG project in Argentina, also in Bahia Blanca, along with YPF/Petronas and Pampa Energia/Excelerate.

Argentina offshore exploration:

Offshore exploration in the areas offshore Argentina, South Atlantic, are soon to commence.

YPF and Equinor are making arrangements for the mv BGP Prospector to commence this task.
