Pilot boat strike Montevideo/Recalada:

The seaman’s union in Montevideo has called an open ended strike as from tomorrow, March 22nd at 09:00 hours, local time.

This is a general nationwide strike to protest pension plan reform.

Montevideo is a nice place, but it is not Paris.

Pilot services at Recalada are affected as boat service proceeds from Montevideo.

Some pilots may be able to board from Recalada pilot station (Argentina) if available.

Grains and Markets:

2 more soya bean Handys have been bought from Brazil for import to Upriver, call that 25 to 36,000 tons each, spot dates.
So far, these vessels have been loaded at North Brazil ports.

Algeria has tenders tomorrow 22nd for 2 times 35,000 tons of ECSA maize. One April 30th arrival date, the other 01-15 May window.

Vietnam is looking for soya meal on July dates. Likely origin ECSA.

Argentina’s sunflower seed harvest is still forecast at 3,000,000 tons. The region where this is produced is less affected by drought.

Concepción del Uruguay and Ibicuy, log shipments:

A further vessel is loading pine logs at Concepción del Uruguay (Argentina) and will complete at Ibicuy.

Total lift of about 28,000 tons.

Discharge port/s, India.
