March 24th 2020

Affected Countries

In view of the ongoing developing situation and different communications and instructions being issued by Sanitary Authorities of the Argentine Government we have chosen to send a consolidated daily report at the closing of working hours with an update of the day’s news.

-National Holidays: Today is the last day of the extra-long weekend declared for March 23rd, March 24th. Also, March 30th and March 31st are National Holidays. In addition April 09th and 10th are National Holidays due to Easter. It must be pointed out that under National Quarantine circumstances most activities for foreign trade and shipping are being attended. National Government entities so far are rendering best cooperation and endeavor that activities return to as close as possible to normal, with due care being taken not to prejudice sanitary measures. Local entities and authorities have accompanied in varying degrees as we have been detailing and will continue to do so.

Tomorrow March 25th will be the first “working day” and we will see how activity develops under the National Quarantine.

It is also sure that this quarantine which was to be enforced until March 31st will now be extended until April 13th.

-Recalada: All vessels must have Free Practique granted prior being given permission to enter the River Plate by CoastGuard Traffic Control. It is being rumored that a contingent of Sanitary Authority Officials are going to be posted at Recalada in order to board incoming vessels and screen the crews.

-Upriver: Ports are working close to normal. With particular situations developing but overall these circumstantial situations are solved.

-Necochea: Maintains the 14 day quarantine requirement on vessels sailing from “affected” ports. Please remember that this 14 day is to count as from the day of sailing from that port.

-Bahia Blanca: Similar to Necochea, but the port administration is being “friendly” to exceptions that are duly applied for and considered to be reasonable.

-2020 Soya and other HSS crops: The harvest of sunflowerseed, maize, soya and sorghum is beginning in the northern areas of the pampas. Despite the uncertainty that most people are subjected to farmers continue harvesting. Inflow of grains into the ports remains steady.

Will keep you posted.

Best regards,
