Grains and Markets:
Taiwan (MFIG) is tendering for 65,000 tons of maize, on August dates. Open origins.
South Korea (NOFI) is bidding for a Panamax of maize, August dates.
Vietnam is in the market for soya meal on July dates and South Africa is still taking offers for a Supramax in August.
Updated harvest forecasts:
Rosario‘s Commercial Exchange has produced a new forecast for the soya bean harvest, currently underway. They now see 21,500,000 tons. Down from 23,000,000 tons they expected last month.
The Buenos Aires Grain Exchange has issued it’s forecast for the sorghum harvest. They foresee 2,700,000 tons. This is 22.8 per cent less than the previous harvest. Drought affecting yields. Their forecast for maize remains at 36,000,000 tons.
Wind farms:
Acindar (ArcelorMittal in Argentina) are constructing a 25 unit wind farm in central Argentina (San Luis). It is expected to go online by October 2023. It is reported that the wind generators are to be purchased in China.
Vestas will be installing a wind farm in Cordoba. Also consisting of 25 generators. It will be operated by YPF Luz. These generators are 125 meters tall (at the mast) and have blades of 162 meters diameter. Each unit has a generating capacity of 6.2 Mw.
