Rumors are again filtering out regarding a new approach to the postponed contract for dredging and buoying of the River Parana/River Plate between Santa Fe and Recalada.
An initial call for offers to perform maintenance dredging on the Rivers for a one year period, prior to a longer term contract, was declared void and the maintenance continued on a direct contracting.
Now the talk is of a medium-term maintenance contract that will last for five years with no additional requirements for improvements.
The initial reason for the longer medium-term contract is that the Government now claims a need for extensive environmental studies to be performed before “improvements” can be designed on the present-day system.
In the meantime, the State Entity, AGP that is managing the dredging contracts out to Jan de Nul.
