Dredging Recalada to Upriver
Sunday, November 20th and Monday November 21st, Long Weekend
Grain Surveyors:
Today, Tuesday afternoon, the Grain Surveyor’s Union (URGARA) called an open ended general strike to start at midnight Wednesday 19th. Very soon after a compulsory 15 day truce was ordered by the Ministry of Labor and the strike is lifted for the coming 15 days while the parties negotiate. This is a wage related dispute.
Grains and Markets:
Peru is in the market for a Handy/Supramax of soyameal on December dates.
Malaysia also, same volume but January dates.
Argentine Grain Exchanges, Buenos Aires and Rosario, are still revising the wheat harvest downwards. Some sources now indicate 16 million tons.
Dredging Recalada to Upriver (River Plate and River Parana):
The AGP who is now managing the “temporary” dredging and buoying of the Rivers has assigned four dredgers to clear the shallow passes between San Lorenzo and the River Plate. Although the dredgers are available there remained pending the environmental surveys that have now given the green light. The passes to be worked on are principally downriver from San Lorenzo/Timbues up to Lagos. These have been the main bottle-necks during the extreme low water months.

Necochea:
Basis a year on year calculation (January/September 2022) Necochea has shipped 1,471,200 tons of barley compared to the same period for 2021 where 1,030,090 tons were loaded. This makes it the first time that the largest volume of grain exported at the port consists of barley. During the same period of 2021 the largest volume of grain loaded was maize, and for 2020 it was wheat. The barley harvest in the Necochea hinterland has been one of the highest recorded.
