Wheat and barley harvest

Villa Constitución Roads:
Villa Constitución used to be a useful fall-back alternative waiting roads for vessels preparing to be load ready after discharge at Upriver.
Regretfully, the local Customs office has deemed that unless the vessel is scheduled to call at either Acindar (Steel mill) or at Unit II grain elevator she will not be allowed to operate while anchored at Villa Constitución Roads. The only possibilities are: remaining idle or, if washing holds then it must be performed by crew only and all waste water from washing must be retained onboard. Crew changes, repairs, spare deliveries, and bunkering are not permitted.
Grains and Markets:
Chile and Tunisia are in the market for soyabean meal, December dates. Both usually buy 40/45,000 ton parcels.
Pakistan will be buying 300,000 tons of wheat on November-December dates.
Farmers in Argentina are more inclined to sow soya instead of fertilizer hungry maize because of the high cost of fertilizers caused by hostilities in the Black Sea area.
Wheat and barley harvest 2022/2023:
The Rosario Commercial Exchange has forecast that the 2022/2023 exports of wheat will be 12,000,000 tons. This is down from 15,000,000 tons in 2021/2022.
Principal reason for the diminished expectations is the very dry weather over the last years that has reduced both the quantity and the quality.
Barley has also been affected. The harvest forecast is now 5,400.000 tons. Early days yet for an accurate figure. One advantage for the barley is that it is sown further south and has had more rain.
The barley harvest is practically simultaneous with wheat.
