National Holidays: Monday May 01st, Labor Day

 

Grains and Markets:

35,000 tons of soya are said to be purchased from Brazil for discharge in Argentina, prompt dates.

Japan is wanting a Panamax of soya beans on July dates and Israel a Supramax of soya beans in June.

South Korea’s KFA bought 66,000 tons of maize for July-August dates.

Taiwan bought 65,000 tons of maize on June dates.

2022/2023 Drought:

USDA, Buenos Aires Grains Exchange, and the Rosario Commercial Exchange have all lowered their forecast for the now incoming soya harvest to between 23 and 27,000,000 tons. USDA being the most optimistic.

All the above mentioned lowered their previous forecasts for maize at 32,000,000 tons.

These are the lowest volumes for a harvesting season since 1999/2000.

Necochea strike:

The Tally Clerk’s Union in Necochea went on strike Tuesday 12th at 15:00 hours (local) because of a dispute with a local stevedoring contractor. The strike was lifted at 19:00 hours of the same day. Only two vessels were in port loading, but both stopped work during this period.

Towage Tariffs increases in Argentina:

Beginning April 15th all towage companies are applying an increase to their rates affecting all ports.

Increases represent about 25 per cent to 60 per cent depending on the port.
