Third Soya “bonus” exchange rate period

Grains and Markets:
NOFI (South Korea) has purchased 60,000 tons of soya meal, May dates, from Cargill. Shipment options ECSA or US.
FLC (South Korea) also has bought 65,000 tons of maize, early May dates. This from Mitsubishi, same Options US or ECSA.
Malaysia and Israel are in the market for Handymaxes of maize in May and Saudi Arabia is looking for a Panamax in April.
Argentine maize 2023 harvest:
The Rosario Commercial Exchange now estimate that the 2023 maize harvest is to be in the range of 42,500,000 tons, again, down because of the drought.
27,500,000 tons of those are forecast to be exported.
Third Soya “bonus” exchange rate period:
The Government has denied that there are plans for a third “bonus” exchange rate period for soya.
Because of the two previous programs in September and December 2022 large quantities of farmer’s stocks were placed on the market and this produced an imbalance in the usual steady supply of beans. Now, during January and February there is a shortage of soyabeans available for crushers and normal trading business.
The coming soya harvest is going to be very small because of the strongest drought in 60 years, so much so that the crushers are importing Brazilian soyabeans to keep the crushing establishment Upriver working. The imports are now underway. The estimate of the total needed for imports is between 1 and 2,000,000 tons.
Argentina’s soyabean production for 2023 is now estimated to be 34,500,000 tons for 2023 according to the Rosario Commercial Exchange.
The Buenos Aires Grains Exchange estimates the volume of soyabeans to be 38,000,000 tons.
