March 31st – Grounding San Lorenzo

March 31st 2020

Grounding San Lorenzo

In view of the ongoing developing situation and different communications and instructions being issued by Sanitary Authorities of the Argentine Government we have chosen to send a consolidated daily report at the closing of working hours with an update of the day’s news.

-National holidays: Tuesday March 31st, 2020 is a National Holiday in Argentina. On the original calendar the holiday was to be April 02nd but the Government decided to move it to the 31st. Also April 09th and 10th for Easter.

-Recalada and Upriver:
The autumn weather has arrived and strong south-east winds closed Recalada during the morning and Zona Comun for most of the day. The visits by Sanitary Authority to vessels inbound with less than 14 days quarantine were performed and all were found in order. The bad weather though means that outbound vessels are detained at Zona Comun and there are few River Plate pilots available to meet incoming vessels. Given that air and ferry transport to Uruguay is closed the only manner to provide pilots is by outbound vessels.

-Upriver: The boat and linesmen Union is working normally in accordance with the 15 day “truce” ordered by the Government. They had yesterday threated to refuse attendance to all vessels that did not comply with the 14 day quarantine period. Loading operations were performed normally and the raining weather at the mouth and Inner River Plate did not reach them.

-Upriver: The mv AG VALOR which was grounded at Km 401, slightly south of Rosario Roads was freed from her grounding early this morning with the assistance of two tugs, the BRUTUS and the RANQUEL. She practically immediately grounded again at a very close position. This time she managed to free at 1445 with assistance of an additional tug, the BURONDI and is now at Rosario Roads awaiting inspection.

-Necochea and Bahia Blanca: Due to the National Holiday the grain surveyors union did not attend loading operations so no grain loading was performed at either port.

Will keep you posted.

Best regards,
