STRIKE SITUATION IN ARGENTINA

In view of the ongoing developing situation and different communications and instructions being issued by Sanitary Authorities of the Argentine Government we have chosen to send a consolidated daily report at the closing of working hours with an update of the day’s news.

There is substantial unrest in the port areas in Argentina.

The tugs, pilot boats and mooring gang services are on strike for 48 hours counting as from May 18th 1800 hours. Due to this vessels are not sailing from berths and the CoastGuard have suspended authority to sail inbound from Recalada due to congested roads at Upriver ports.

Mooring gangs have just announced that they will assist tankers that are loaded and ready to sail provided that tug boats are not needed for the maneuver.

The Grain Surveyors Union has just announced they will be joining the strike. This will principally mean that vessels loading grain will be delayed.

All these strikes are related to a demand that port and maritime workers be vaccinated against Covid 19.

Will keep you posted.

Best regards,
Antares Servicios Maritimos S.A.
