Grains and Markets:
Two Panamaxes of maize were bought by South Korea (one by MFG and one by FLG), both on April dates.
Algeria is buying 40,000 tons of maize from Argentina on March/April dates.
Saudi Arabia is looking for a maize shipment on May dates.
Egypt (GASC) is back in the market for 30,000 tons of soyabean oil and 10,000 tons of sun oil on February dates.
Maize and soya bean 2023 harvests:
The Buenos Aires Grains Exchange has today issued the forecast for the coming 2023 harvest.
Soya beans 33,500,000 tons, down from the 2022 harvest which was 49,000,000 tons
Maize 41,000,000 tons, down from the 2022 harvest which was 52,000,000 tons
Jose Maria mining in the Northwest Andes:
Lundin, who are the holders of the Jose Maria mine in the Northwestern Andes will be investing a further USD 400,000,000 in this project during 2023.
The yield for the first 8 years of this mine is forecast to be 160,000 tons of copper and 300,000 ounces of gold.
The mine has a production expectancy of 19 years.
This mine is expected to be functioning by 2025.
Copper concentrates are planned to be shipped on the rail network for loading at San Lorenzo.
