Copper Mining in Argentina: Los Azules Project in San Juan

Grains and Markets:
Tunisia is in the market for a Handymax of soyabeans on April dates.
Morocco is reported seeking a Supramax of soya meal on April dates and Vietnam a similar volume of same product on May dates.
There are rumors locally that the Government will place an export quota of 8,000,000 tons of maize for this year.
Presumably to protect the domestic market affected by the smaller crop caused by the drought.
Los Azules mining project, San Juan:
The latest news on copper mining in Argentina concerns the Los Azules project in the province of San Juan.
The initial surveys and project were implemented by McEwen Copper of Canada since 2017.
The other capital partner is Rio Tinto.
Yesterday Stellantis, (the merged company that used to be Peugeot and Chrysler) announced they will become part of the venture with a 14.2 per cent.
Stellantis’ main interest is in securing copper for their worldwide manufacturing process.
The mine is projected to be up and running by 2027 with annual production of 100,000 tons of high-grade copper concentrate.
It is in the northwestern Andes, close to the border with Chile.
