National Holidays: Monday May 01st, Labor Day
Services on Labor day, May 01st:
Pilot boat services at Recalada from Montevideo will not be performed on May 01st.
Services for vessels will be rendered from Piriapolis, an alternative pilot boarding area slightly further outward from Montevideo.
Slight delays on pilot boarding and departure may be expected.
Grains and Markets:
Algeria is reported in the market for a Supramax of wheat. Dates unreported.
China has purchased 37 Panamaxes of soyabean during the last week, all origin from ECSA.
The USDA forecast for the coming (2023-2024) maize harvest from Argentina has been estimated at 54,000,000 tons (weather permitting). This means “back to normal” (AGW!)
USDA also estimates the coming Argentine Wheat (2023-2024) harvest at 19,500,000 tons, again WP.
YPF-Petronas LNG plant at Bahia Blanca:
The joint venture is now pending on legislation to be passed by Congress to regulate exports of LNG. The bill is scheduled to enter Congress next week.
For the last 10-15 years Argentina has been an importer of LNG to satisfy demand.
A new legal frame work is needed to regulate export trade.
The grounds where it will be built, within the Bahia Blanca port area, have already been reserved.
