Grains and Markets:
South Korea’s NOFI has bought 2 x Panamaxes of maize, September dates. One from Mitusi, another from Cargill. Options ECSA or SAfrica.
Tunisians are in the market for a Supramax of soya bean meal, August dates.
Chinese buyers are reported to have bought 3 x Panamaxes of Brazil soya beans for prompt dates.
Labor unrest in Argentina:
Tugboat crews are back to work as from noon today after the Government declared a mandatory truce period.
This was/is a wage related strike.
In the meantime, stevedores in Bahia Blanca are starting short wildcat strikes while they start to pressure for improved wages.
Grains Forecasts from the Buenos Aires Grains Exchange:
Harvesting of soya beans is now well underway. The yields in some areas are slightly above expectations, nevertheless the Exchange maintains its forecast for a total of 50,500,000 tons for the total harvest.
Maize is also well underway, 35 per cent completed. The Exchange forecasts a total yield of 46,500,00 tons.
Sowing of wheat has also commenced in earnest. At this time 25 per cent of the forecast area has been sown.
