Grains and Markets:
South Korea’s FLC has purchased 65,000 tons of maize from CHS, origin ECSA/SAfrica, late June dates.
MFG (South Korea, also) have bought 68,000 tons of maize on May-June dates.
Egypt’s GASC is tendering for a Panamax of wheat, basis FOB, 20-30 May dates.
Tunisia are in the market for a Supra/Ultramax of soya beans in May.
Iran’s SLAL will be tendering soon for 120/140,000 tons of soya bean meal.
Bahia Blanca – Energy projects (LNG and Oiltanking crude)
As work progresses at Oiltanking storage and the new berth for Suezmax crude carriers the Bahia Blanca Port Administration has commissioned studies to increase the maximum depth for the port to 15.24 meters (50 feet 00 inches). Today, the maximum draft 13.72 meters (45 feet 00 inches) which is adequate for most of the dry bulk cargoes shipped from this port.
With expansion of the crude exports from Oiltanking at their new berth and increased storage already underway it is now the Bahia Blanca port Administration that is looking to increase the maximum draft.
As well as the increased oil exports there is also a proposed new Petronas-YPF LNG plant that is planned (although not yet confirmed) for Bahia Blanca outer harbor.
The initial plans and surveys are being conducted by Jan de Nul.
