May Revolution
In view of the ongoing developing situation and different communications and instructions being issued by Sanitary Authorities of the Argentine Government we have chosen to send a consolidated daily report at the closing of working hours with an update of the day’s news.
-National Holidays: Friday, May 01st 2020, Labor day. Next, Monday May 25th, May Revolution.
-Covid-19 National Quarantine: The National Quarantine, with severe restrictions movement will remain in force until May 10th. Some smaller cities are making circulation restrictions a little lighter. Large cities, Buenos Aires, Rosario, Santa Fé, Cordoba and Mendoza, amongst others are maintaining restrictions as before.
-Export licenses: April 30th, export licenses have been granted for 70,000 tons of maize and 62,000 tons of soyameal.
-River Parana dredging: The dredger DASA I continues working at San Nicolas. A further 14 days work are expected. The port remains unobstructed. Hidrovia S.A. who manages the River Parana dredging and buoyage system is working with all it’s five dredgers to make good a bad situation and maintain the river draft under the present conditions of very low water volume. The lowest since 1971.
-Harvest 2020: The Buenos Aires Grain Exchange reports today that 68.2 per cent of the soya harvest has been completed. The total tonnage is expected to be 49.5 million tons. 36.7 per cent of the maize harvest is done and the tonnage for this season is still maintained at 50 million tons. 28.t per cent of the sorghum is harvested and the overall tonnage is expected to be 2.5 millions.
-Car manufacturing: One of the car manufacturing plants in Cordoba has resumed production.
-Bahia Blanca: Further to our circular earlier the seamen’s union have announced that tomorrow May 01st, Labor day, there will only be tug and pilot service for essential services only. Meaning by this tankers bringing in fuel.
-Necochea: The port is still closed since April 28th at 2035 hrs due to high winds and waves. Best hopes for weather improvement and openining are only for Saturday May 02nd. Will keep you posted.
