Strike in South Rosario area ports:
On Wednesday 14th morning the Stevedores Union in the Rosario area of Upriver have gone on strike in “sympathy” with the striking staff at TPR.
A demonstration was held today, Thursday 15th at the Rosario Municipal building and the demonstrators felt it necessary to demolish one of the access doors to make their point.
The strike is for an underdetermined period of time and it affects:
-TPR
-Units VI and VII
-Cargill VGG
-Cargill Punta Alvear
-LDC Lagos
-ADM Agro, Arroyo Seco
Grains and Markets:
Ecuador is in the market for a Supramax of soya meal on February dates. South Africa is also in for a similar volume but on March dates. Malaysia is mentioned for March dates for a Supramax of maize
Sales of the second “bonus” exchange rate season for soyabeans now stand at 812,000 tons. All of this for export.
Bahia Blanca, Puerto Rosales:
The new Oiltanking berth has been announced with details of capacity and mooring scheme.
Five additional tanks totaling 50 thousand cubic meters capacity will be constructed.
The pier will have two berthing positions. One for a Suezmax tanker and one for an Aframax tanker. The two SBMs being used presently will be replaced by this berth.
The facility will be fed from Vaca Muerta Oil and Gas field by the present pipeline and by an additional pipeline which will effectively duplicate transport capacity.
As always, the STS operation is up to the discretion of the Master’s of the vessels involved.
