The Government has increased the export quota for maize from 20,000,000 tons to 26,000,000 tons to encourage their “bonus” exchange rate program. (The total harvest is forecast to be 34,000,000 tons). San Nicolas New Port south side:

Maintenance work on the south side of San Nicolas New Port berth continues. The pier has required extensive structural maintenance since it was overloaded with barge to ship iron ore cargoes for a few years which produce sagging in the central to south area. This berth is used mainly for discharging fertilizer import cargoes which are now limited to using the single available berth at the North side of New Port. Significant congestion has been building up over the last two months. The work is expected to be completed by October/November.

Bahia Blanca Crude exports:

The mt ADVANTAGE PORTOCERVO is the first vessel to load crude oil from Bahia Blanca (Puerto Galvan) Inflammables Pier which has recently been adapted for this purpose. The exporter was Trafigura (who have a refinery close by) and she lifted a parcel of about 27,000 tons of Medanito crude bound for Brazil. She had previously called at Caleta Cordoba where she lifted a similar quantity of Escalante crude oil for the reported same destination.
