Zona Comun Bunkering – OSRO:

Starting Friday June 09th the CoastGuard has ruled that all vessels performing bunkering operations at Zona Comun are obliged to employ OSRO coverage.

The estimated cost of the OSRO coverage is in the order of USD 2,300.00 per operation.

Tariffs in Argentina:

Due to very high inflation, limited access to foreign exchange, constantly changing and new regulations service providers are being obliged to keep on increasing their tariffs.

Tugboats are increasing 15 per cent as from June.

Mooring services are expected to increase 30 per cent as from July.

We shall keep you posted on these changes.

Grains and Markets:

China has purchased four Panamaxes of soya beans from Brazil, dates June through August.

Algeria is in the market for a Handymax of soya meal on July dates.

Saudi Arabia is in the market for 1 through 3 Panamaxes of maize in September.

Soya bean imports to Argentina are now rumored to increase (volume). Original estimates are now increased from 8,000,000 tons to 10,500,000 tons for the season.

Discharge berths are at Upriver (Rosario, San Lorenzo, Timbues). The estimated receiving capacity is 1,500,000 tons per month.

Buenos Aires New Port Container Terminal/s:

The National Government, through AGP, (Buenos Aires Port Administration) has cancelled the call for tenders to award a new, single, container terminal.

A new call to tenders is being drawn up and looks to have two container terminals, and a separate cruise ship terminal within what is known as New Port.

The renewed call for tenders will hopefully be issued before the end of the year.

 

Today, with most of the container terminals awarded during the 1990s having expired and working on short term extensions, the port looks like this:
