Grains and Markets:

Rosario Commercial Exchange has issued a forecast for soya bean harvest 2023-2024 at 49,500,000 tons an for the maize harvest at 57,000,000 tons.

The Iranians passed on both their tenders for maize and soya bean meal that were asking for April-May dates.

Egypt is still in the market for a Panamax of maize on May dates.

Nigerians still there for a May Supramax of wheat.

Steel workers strike:

The steel workers union have called a strike that will start tomorrow, March 13th 06:00 hours.

This strike is reported to last for 48 hours.

All operations at Puerto Buitrago, San Nicolas (Siderar/Ternium) and Acindar, Villa Constitución will be affected.

Bahia Blanca – Inflammables berth:

Berth 1 (Posta 1) of the Inflammables berth in Bahia Blanca was damaged on March 09th during operations with the mt PUNTA PIRAMIDES.

Since that time loading arms 2, 3 and 4 are out of service.

Repairs are expected to be completed by March 16th.

YPF-Petronas LNG production plant:

YPF (Government owned energy company), who are partnering with Petronas, are reconsidering the location of their LNG production installation.

Previously, and with MOAs signed with the Bahia Blanca Port Authority, they had considered installing the facility in the Bahia Blanca area at the entry of the port.

They are now considering another location on the coast of Northern Patagonia close to Punta Colorada.

This is the same area where they are working on installing a crude oil loading facility that will be fed from the Vaca Muerta shale-oil and gas field in NW Patagonia.

The LNG production facility is still expected to be of similar characteristics, with a projected 6,000,000 cubic meters per annum once the first stage is completed.
