Grains and Markets:
India has purchased one full load of sunflower seed oil on April dates, origin unreported.
Nigerians are now also reported to be in the market for a full Supramax of maize May-June dates.
Thais eventually bought 120,000 tons of wheat on June dates, and they purchased 2 times 60,000 tons from Cofco, June-July dates.
Saudis are reported in the market for maize during July.
Argentina – Soya beans:
The local soya bean trading market has been very quiet over the last few days.
A rumor is around that the Government may be about to implement a new “bonus” exchange rate period for soya beans to encourage farmers to release stocks and in that way allow the Central Bank to make themselves of new foreign currency (USD) reserves.
During 2023 the Government (previous administration) ran three of these programs to bolster USD reserves in the Central Bank.
The result was that farmers sold soya bean during the period, export licenses were issued and a an upwards “bump” in exports for a short while (about one month).
Still no firm indications about when this period will commence.
