Soya bean meal crushing during 2024
National Holidays:
-Extra-long weekend, Thursday, March 28th, Friday March 29th, (Easter), Monday, April 01st (Bridge Holiday), Tuesday, April 02nd (Veterans Day)
Grains and Markets:
Egyptians are in the market for Panamax of soya beans and for one of maize on May dates.
Colombians are in the market for a Supramax of soya bean meal and for another of maize during June.
The Vietnamese are also looking for a Panamax of soya bean meal on June dates.
Jordan is in the market for Supramax of wheat during June-July.
SENASA strike coming week:
SENASA staff have announced a strike for Tuesday March 26th and Wednesday March 27th.
This may affect loading operations of grain vessels at all ports.
We will be reverting with each individual vessel if it is affected.
Soya bean meal crushing during 2024:
Soya bean crushing is bouncing back earlier than expected.
According to the graph below, prepared by the Rosario Commercial Exchange, the bean crushing activity is picking up thanks to the imported soya beans brought from Paraguay.
The soya bean harvest in Argentina is only just beginning in the far north and the beans have not yet reached the crushing facilities in Upriver.
This unexpected influx of soya bean is expected to be the beginning of a more normal year (in volume) after the severely affected 2022-2023 harvest.
The soya bean harvest for 2023-2024 is expected to amount to slightly over 50,000,000 tons.
