Grains and Markets:
Algeria has purchased between 870,000 and 900,000 tons of wheat when closing their tender, dates 2h June and various origins.
South Korea bought three times 60,000 tons of maize for mid-2H June, one each by MFG, FLC and KFA, origins still unreported.
Egypt is again in the market for a Panamax of soya beans on May dates.
Grain surveyors strike Necochea and Bahia Blanca:
The grain surveyors union (URGARA) are staging surprise unannounced strikes at Bahia Blanca and Necochea.
When on strike vessels loading cannot proceed with operations.
The strikes are of a wildcat nature and last about four hours.
This is a wage related conflict.
Argentina harvest HSS 2023-2024:
The latest updated forecasts for the “heavy” seed harvest, due to commence next month are
52,500,000 tons for soya beans
56,500,000 tons for maize
3,800,000 tons for sunflower seed
This is a good volume seen within a ten year period.
Specially after the disaster in 2022-2023 caused by the drought.
Argentina “deforestation-free soya beans” to EU:
This new “requirement” installed by the EU has been met, for the first time, by Argentina’s soya bean meal exports to the EU. It is said that Argentina is the first country to be able to comply with the “Visec” platform demanding full traceability.
The first three shipments, amounting to 46,000 tons are already on their way to the Continent.
