Grains and Markets:
Malaysia’s requirement for a Supramax of soya meal on January dates remains open.
South Korea (MFG) has purchased 68,000 tons of maize for January-February days. Origin unreported, so far.
2023-2024 grains harvest:
Foreign grain surveyors have estimated the harvest for the coming season. They place maize at 52,000,000 tons and soya beans at 50,000,000 tons. Favorable sowing weather for sowing remains in most of the northern and central areas of the Pampas and remains.
Soya beans and soya bean meal LQ 2023-FQ 2024:
A report published this week has informed that the total stock remaining of the last 2022-2023 Argentine harvest is 2,000,000 tons.
The stock is low because of the drought and because of the outgoing Government’s “bonus” exchange rate programs during that depleted soya bean stocks in a bid to collect USD.
Imports during October were 460,000 tons, from Bolivia and Paraguay, carried by barge down the Paraná.
Imports from Brazil (sea borne) are not expected given the current foreign exchange crisis, which is being dumped on the incoming Government that takes office on December 10th.
Crushing plants (at Upriver) remain active, more than expected, but far from the usual level for this time of year.
