Grains and Markets:
Ecuador remains in the market for a Supramax of meal on February dates. Israel is said to be looking for a Handymax of soyabeans in March. Vietnam is also looking for soyameal and maize in March.
Turkey is still looking for 24,000 tons of sunoil, March also. Egypt is reported to be looking for maize (Panamax) on April dates.
The market reports that local farmers have sold 80 per cent of the soyabeans harvested in 2022, compared to 81 per cent at this time in 2021. All this despite the “bonus” exchange rate deal offered by the Government during September and then again in December.
Gas liquefaction installation in Bahia Blanca:
The Bahia Blanca port consortium has announced that YPF and Petronas will be building a LNG liquefaction plant in the port area. The gas will be brought from the Vaca Muerta shale oil and gas field in Northwestern Patagonia to be processed and shipped from a berth/s to be constructed there. The reported location of this investment will be slightly east of ADM’s berth at Ing White where the defunct Vale potassium storage and loading berth was to be built.
Mv TAI KNIGHTHOOD at Puerto Madryn:
The Panamax mv THAI KNIGHTHOOD, that hit the breakwater departing Necochea on November 28th late night has now arrived at Puerto Madryn for repairs. A salvage tug is alongside, and repairs have begun to plug the gash between holds 1 and 2. It is reported that after they are completed, she will proceed to China for discharge.
