April 24th 2023

Grains and Markets

National Holidays: Monday May 01st, Labor Day

Grains and Markets:

The Philippines have bought 50,000 tons of maize, ECSA origin on July dates.

South Korea (NOFI) have purchased 137,000 tons of maize, September and October dates. Optional origin.

Egypt has purchased 35,000 tons of sunflower seed oil on May/June dates.

Algeria (ONAB) confirmed the purchased of 70,000 tons of maize on May dates.

Soya bean imports:

Soya bean imports (used for crushing and re-export) continue due to the drought and significant shortfall of the local harvest (2022-2023).

During March 2023 imports were 1,380,000 tons. Total processed was 2,110,000 tons.

This means that about 64 per cent of the soya beans processed at Upriver were imports.

The proportions of the imports are:

Paraguay 82.3 per cent (River barge)

Brazil   15.9 per cent (Ocean freight)

Bolivia   1.8 per cent (River barge)

This pattern will continue throughout the year, with a similar (tonnage wise) amount of imports expected to shore up the local shortfall.

Bunker deliveries at Zona Comun:

STS BUNKER AT ZONA COMUN FOR NEXT DAYS:

As always, the STS operation is up to the discretion of the Master’s of the vessels involved.

Will keep you posted.

Best regards,
