Grains and Markets:

South Africa is the market for a Supramax of soya bean meal on June dates.

Saudi Arabia is still in the market for a tender (large) of maize in July.

Thais are looking for a Supramax/Panamax of wheat July dates.

Pilotage fees in Argentina:

Pilotage fees will be increased as from April 01st.

This is a lumpsum increase of USD 3,000 basis a voyage from Recalada to Upriver and again, the same amount for the return leg.

Wheat exports from Argentina during the 2023-2024 season:

The Rosario Commercial Exchange (BCR) reports that wheat exports this season are below the yearly average.

Argentina’s wheat harvest for the 2023-2024 season is the second lowest in eight years (14,500,000 tons).

The drought during 2022-2023 (now over) affected production seriously.

Exports between December and February 2024 amount to 3,500,000 tons.

In addition to this, prices basis FOB are 38 per cent below the same period last year.This is attributed to Russia flooding the market with larger than normal volumes (39,900,000 tons so far).
