RIVER PARANA GROUNDING:
This morning the mv OCEAN FREEDOM, proceeding in loaded condition from San Lorenzo, outbound to Recalada, grounded at Km 311 of the River Parana (between Ramallo and San Pedro). The grounding occurred at 07:20 hours and the vessel was on a draft of 10.39 meters. The vessel managed to free from the grounding at 10:50 without external assistance and is now anchored close to San Pedro being inspected by CoastGuard.
As from the moment of the grounding at 07:20 hours navigation for ocean going vessels was suspended. At 18:30 hours CoastGuard freed navigation through the area after surveys were performed.
Grains and Markets:
Taiwan (MFIG) has purchased 65,000 tons of maize, Brazilian origin, on 01-20 October dates.
Colombia is in the market for a Supramax of soya bean meal on October dates.
Algeria will be tendering for 120,000 tons of maize in August dates.
Argentine maize “bonus” exchange rate season:
During the second week of this scheme a further 327,000 tons are reported to be sold for export.
If the reports are accurate it means that about 2,500,000 tons of maize have been sold this far.
