Grains and Markets:

South Korea (KFA) has purchased 65,000 tons of maize, 2nd half February from Cofco. Sourcing from Europe and Black Sea excluded.

Again, South Korea (Nofi), has bought 132,000 tons of maize from either US-Canada or ECSA.

Wheat 2023-2024 harvest:

Harvesting of wheat progresses well and the yields are above expected. 36 per cent of the sown area has been harvested with 4,450,000 tons lifted so far. The northern area is not the most productive so higher volumes are to be expected when the middle and southern areas are reached. No new total volumes are yet forecast.

New Government – Starting December 10th – News:

The new Government is quietly getting it’s act together.

We now enjoy 18 ministers in the Cabinet. Milei will reduce this to 8. Transport will be demoted to a Secretariat. The new Secretary for Transport (Railways, Road, Air, Fluvial and Seaborne) is one of the few formally appointed. He has a career as a provincial official from Cordoba. It would appear he has no experience in water transport, as Cordoba has no shore on either the sea or rivers.

Nevertheless there is confidence that a priority of the incoming Government is to tender promptly for a new long term Hidrovia (Recalada-Upriver) improvement and maintenance contract.

Bunker deliveries at Zona Comun:

STS BUNKER AT ZONA COMUN FOR NEXT DAYS:

As always, the STS operation is up to the discretion of the Master’s of the vessels involved.

Will keep you posted.
