Grains and Markets:
Vietnam, Guatemala and Mexico are in the market for Supramaxes soya meal on March/April dates.
China is reported to have purchased a further three Panamaxes of Brazilian soya beans on April dates.
Algeria, Saudi Arabia and Mexico are in the market for maize on April dates.
Jordan is in the market for 120,000 tons of barley on June/July dates.
“New” Magdalena Canal Access Canal to the River Plate:
Surveys are being performed to establish the dredging which would be needed for the “Magdalena Canal”.
After a while, this project seems to have recovered politicians’ interest.
As mentioned, a while back politicians and ideologists want to dredge a new access canal from the South Atlantic into the Outer River Plate.
The plan is twofold.
Bypass entry of the River at Montevideo and provide a shorter southern access for Argentine Atlantic and Patagonian ports.
The greater volume of maritime traffic entering and leaving the River Plate heads or proceeds north or east after
