Grains and Markets:

South Korea’s MFG has bought 60,000 tons of soya bean meal of June dates.

Colombia is in the market for a Supramax of soya meal on March dates.

Japan and Morocco are both in the market for Panamaxes of soya bean meal on April dates.

South Korea’s FLC have bought 68,000 tons of maize for July.

Algeria’s tender for 120,000 tons of maize from Argentina has been passed on for the moment.

The Rosario Commercial Exchange has now put the maize 2024 harvest at 59,000,000 tons, a record crop for the last five years.

New Government – General Strike January 24th:

The CGT (National Federation of Trade Unions) has called for a National general Strike on January 24th.

The extent of the strike and how this affect port and vessel operations is still unknown.

We will revert with details as soon as they are available.

The strike is to protest the policies of the Government that took office on December 10th and intends to curtail the right to strike and affect many of the particular privileges that many areas of the economy have “enjoyed” over many years.

YPF-Petronas Bahia Blanca LNG plant:

YPF and Petronas have ratified their investment for an LNG production plant in Bahia Blanca.

At this time, the emphasis is being placed on engineering work to construct three principal gas pipelines from Vaca Muerta (Northwestern Patagonia) to Bahia Blanca.

Each pipeline will be 63o kilometers in length and consist of steel piping of 36 inches in diameter.

The next phase will consist of the chartering of an LNG liquefaction vessel to be that will used for the initial production stage.

The plan is to be up and running by 2027 exporting 6,000,000 cubic meters per annum, during the initial stage.
