New Government – General Strike January 24th:

The CGT (National Federation of Trade Unions) has called for a National general Strike on January 24th.

The extent of the strike and how this affect port and vessel operations is still unknown.

We will revert with details as soon as they are available.

The strike is to protest the policies of the Government that took office on December 10th and intends to curtail the right to strike and affect many of the particular privileges that many areas of the economy have “enjoyed” over many years.

Prospecting in the South Atlantic for oil and gas:

Prospecting at the CAN-100 area South Atlantic off shore Argentina is well underway since mid December.

The survey vessel BGP PROSPECTOR is working the CAN-100 area and by next month the arrival of the drilling vessel VALARIS DS 17 is expected (she is currently anchored at Rio de Janeiro).

The initial forecasts for the area are that this could develop into a second Vaca Muerta with a production capacity of 200,000 barrels per day.
