General Strike in Argentina

 

National Holiday: Monday and Tuesday February 12th and 13th, 2024 (Carnival)

 

Wednesday, January 24th – General Strike in Argentina:

January 24th the CGT (Labor Union Confederation) has called for a nationwide general strike to protest National Government policies.

The strike will commence at 12:00 hours local time and will last until 24:00 hours, local time. 

Services will be curtailed or stopped during this period as per detail: 

  • Grain surveyors at all ports.
  • Pilot boats
  • Tug boats
  • Mooring gangs
  • Staff at oil crushing factories
  • Customs

 Due to this vessel movements, loading and discharging operations will stopped as from noon and will only resume at 00:00 hours January 25th.

Services will be curtailed or stopped during this period.

Grains and Markets:

South Korea’s MFG purchased 66,000 tons of maize from ADM, optional origin, April dates.

Egypt’s GASC has purchased 47,500tons of sunflower seed oil on February-March dates.

Algeria’s ONAB are still in the market for 160,000 tons of maize on spot dates.

Japan is asking for a Panamax of maize during April and Vietnam a Supramax of maize during May.

Japan (MAFF) is asking 88,000 tons of wheat , Bangladesh 50,000 tons of wheat and the Philippines for a Supramax of wheat on April-May dates.

Also Nigeria and Vietnam are in for Supramaxes of wheat during March.

 

Bahia Blanca – Puerto Rosales SBMs:

One of the two SBMs at Bahia Blanca’s Puerto Rosales is now back in service after the leakages detected last week.

The mt CABO SOUNION is loading at the SBM named Punta Cigueña.

Meantime repair work at the other SBM, Punta Ancla, continues.

Statistics:

Tomorrow we will we sending the bulk trade Export and Import Statistics for December 2023.
