Grains and Markets:

Markets do not now expect Argentina to be a major exporter of soya beans until the next harvest is collected in 2024. Participation will be in meals and soya oil while the local crushing industry can keep active using imported soya beans from Brazil, Paraguay and Bolivia.

Algeria’s tender for 120,000 tons of maize has been fixed principally with Argentina sourcing on July and August dates. Panamax sizes.

Grounding on the Martin Garcia Canal (River Plate):

The mv BERGE NISHIKAWA has grounded on the Martin Garcia Canal, level with Punta Pereira (Km 95.9), today June 27th at approximately 13:00 hours.

Vessel is proceeding inbound to Nueva Palmira, loaded with about 7,000 tons of fertilizers on a draft of 9.1 meters.

She is reported to affected by engine trouble. One tugboats is in attendance.

CoastGuard has stopped all navigation through the area.

 

Wheat Argentina harvest 2023/2024:

The Buenos Aires Grains Exchange has issued a very preliminary forecast for the coming 20233/2024 harvest (now being sown)

Quantity forecast is 16,200,000 tons. Of those 9,500,000 tons are expected to be available for export.
