Grains and Markets:
The Government has confirmed that there will be no fourth “bonus” exchange rate period for soya beans exporters. There are hardly any soya beans anyway.
Brazil has sold a further Panamax of soya beans to China on August/September dates and two for September.
Colombia is in the market for Supramax of soya bean meal in September. Iran is to tender, again, for 120,000 tons of soya meal July/August.
Egypt is wanting a Panamax of maize in September and Colombia a Supramax also in September.
Forecasts and outturns:
The soya harvest is declared completed today with a total of 21,000,000 tons. This is well down compared to 43,000,000 tons during 2022. The drought was a determining factor in the significant downfall.
Maize is still being harvested. The projection is for 34,000,000 tons. Again, thanks to the drought, down from 47,700,000 tons during 2022.
Vaca Muerta Gas pipeline:
The Government has announced they have obtained financing for the 2nd (final) stage of the gas pipeline that will connect the shale gas deposits in NW Patagonia to the national network. On this basis the last 470 Km will commence installation starting August 2023. The first (initial) stage was 472 Km in length. Pipes were imported “raw” from Brazil, mostly loaded in Rio de Janeiro.
The financing is said to be provided by Chinese Banks, amongst others.
