May 3rd 2023

Strike in San Lorenzo

National Holidays: Thursday May 25th and Friday May 26th

Grains and Markets:

Japan is still looking for a Panamax of soya beans in August.

Honduras and Colombia are in the market for Supramaxes of soya meal on July dates.

Egypt is looking for a Panamax of maize on August dates, and Malaysia, same commodity on July dates.

Restriction on payment of freight services from Argentina:

On April 20th the Central Bank issued a ruling that restricts “Freight Services” from being remitted abroad for a period of 90 days.

As per the ruling funds that are deposited in an account in Argentina, belonging to the Owner, cannot be transferred abroad.

This applies principally to Liner Services.

In the case of Tramp Services the freight is normally transferred by the Argentine Charterer directly abroad and therefore is not affected.

The Navigation Center (Centro de Navegación) and other foreign trade entities have appealed the ruling.

Strike in San Lorenzo:

There was a short strike at Renova in San Lorenzo, today, May 02nd, which interrupted loading operations for about three or four hours.

This was due to a dispute arising because some workers were to be laid off.

The strike commenced around 10/11:00 hours, but operations were resumed at 14:00 hours.

Bunker deliveries at Zona Comun:

STS BUNKER AT ZONA COMUN FOR NEXT DAYS:

As always, the STS operation is up to the discretion of the Master’s of the vessels involved.

Will keep you posted.

Best regards,

Antares Servicios Maritimos S.A.
