Grains and Markets:
China is reported to have bought two Panamax cargoes of soya beans during this week. One from Brazil and one from Argentina. Both July dates.
Pakistan is looking for a Supramax of soya beans on August dates and Myanmar and Costa Rica for Handys of soya meal on September dates.
Egypt is in the market for 30,000 tons of soya oil and 10,000 tons of sunflower seed oil July dates.
Maize 2023/2024:
The annual MAIZAR Congress has been held in Buenos Aires over the last few days.
Presentations were put forward where the coming harvest (weather permitting) could be a record if the projected surface to be sown attains good yields.
One of these projections estimates that the overall yield could be around 80,000,000 tons.
It must be considered that the maize based ethanol production in Argentina has been increasing significantly since 2011.
The increase, year on year, between 2021 and 2022 is 16 per cent. See graph below.
