Grains and Markets:

According to weather forecasters a return to more normal weather patterns over very south Brazil and all of Argentina now raises expectation for a “normal” soya bean harvest. The first “timid” numbers talk of a lifting in the order of 45/48,000,000 tons. Harvesting commences early 2024.

Iran’s tender for 120,000 tons of soya bean meal remains open, they are wanting September dates. Iran is also still open for 180,000 tons of maize on same dates.

Japan is looking for a Panamax of maize in November.

Grain surveyor’s Union possible stoppage:

URGARA, the grain surveyor’s union has declared that since the Government declared truce has expired, they may declare a nationwide stoppage which may commence August 30th at 00:00 hours. Loading of grain products may be interrupted if this materializes.

Bahia Blanca (Puerto Galvan) TGS LNG Terminal:

TGS and Excelerate are moving ahead with their project to build an LNG terminal in Bahia Blanca. This is addition to the YPF-Petronas project. The location of this project is in the inner sector of the port known as Puerto Galvan. Ground studies are being performed in the area where the construction will take place. This LNG installation is a joint venture between TGS (belonging to the local Pampa Energia investor) and the US (Texan) Excelerate group. It will be supplied with gas from the northwestern Patagonia Vaca Muerta shale oil and gas field. If this proceeds according to plan the LNG exports are expected to be commenced early 2025.
