Soya beans:

As had been expected, the Government has announced a further “bonus” month for those holding soyabeans and selling them during a period starting tomorrow Monday 28th until December 31st. During this period there will be a preferential exchange rate for this commodity. The mechanism was applied during September 2022 and resulted in a “surge” of sales. During this last “bonus” China purchased 923,176 tons. Similar volumes are expected again.

Grains and Markets:

Despite the dark forecasts and omens regarding the wheat crop the yields at the commencement of harvesting have been significantly better than expected. The most pessimistic forecasts were issued by the Rosario Trade Exchange but they now maintain a total of 12.4 million tons for the 2022-2023 harvest.

Malaysia and Peru are in the market for 45/50,000 tons of maize February and March dates.

Otherwise markets are quiet due to US Thanksgiving Weekend.

Crude Oil and LNG exports:

The crude oil pipeline that feeds the Vaca Muerta Shale Oil and Gas field to Bahia Blanca is now being duplicated. Work is to begin soon on the construction. Interestingly a dispute has arisen amongst the oil companies that “bid” for space on the pipeline due to “unfair” price offers.

Also the Government is said to be preparing legislation to present to Congress in order to encourage LNG production for export.

Bunker deliveries at Zona Comun:

STS BUNKER AT ZONA COMUN FOR NEXT DAYS:

Rough weather persists as the weekend draws to a close but weather is expected to improve during the next week.As always, the STS operation is up to the discretion of the Master’s of the vessels involved.
