Grains and Markets:

China has purchased two Panamaxes of soya beans from Brazil on May(2024) dates and one Panamax from Argentina Sep-Octo 2023.

Tunisia is looking for a Supramax of soya beans in December, and Morocco for a Panamax of soya meal during November.

Iran’s tender for maize (180,000 tons) with Oct-Nov dates remains open.

Agriculture crop estimates:

The Rosario Commercial Exchange has issued its estimate for the coming crops.

Wheat (due to commence harvest shortly) is placed at 15,000,000 tons, better than 2022-2023 (11,500,000 tons), but still affected by drought.

Soya beans are forecast at 48,000,000 tons.

Maize at 48,000,000 tons.

Both of the above are to commence sowing in the coming weeks.

Mendoza Potash mine:

The former Vale potash mine in Mendoza has been awarded to a joint venture consortium composed of Brazil’s A.R.G. and Argentina’s Minera Aguilar. As mentioned in last week’s report, this a mine with an estimated production of 1,500,000 tons per annum, due to commence shipping potash by 2026-2027. Potash will be exported through Bahia Blanca, which will be connected to the mine by a railway line extension.
